India Aims at A Giant Leap in Renewable Energy Capacity Expansion
The government of India is all set to issue tenders for increasing the country’s renewable energy capacity by 250 GW. The goal is to achieve this by March 2028.
In the first two quarters of the fiscal year ending in March 2024, Government plans to launch contracts to add 15 GW of renewable energy capacity in each quarter, followed by bids for 10 GW in the next two quarters. Thus, the country plans to offer tenders for the installation of 250 GW of renewable energy by March 2028.
We, at Navitas Solar, believe that India is trying hard to reduce its carbon emissions and this added capacity will add to the nation’s efforts. Currently, India is the world’s third-largest greenhouse gas emitter and the nation is adopting renewable energy sources, especially solar massively. The added capacity will boost the overall solar energy adoption in the country.
