PM Modi sets the global agenda for solar energy; Navitas Solar is committed for the same

Addressing the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC26th’s) Conference of Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland, honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again reiterated the undeniable importance of renewable energy, especially solar energy and reaffirmed India’s commitment to the same.

At the World Leaders’ Summit, PM Modi stated ‘One Sun, One Globe, One Grid’ can be vital to re-establishing the environmental balance. PM Modi called for developing a worldwide solar power system during a conference on “Accelerating Clean Technology Innovation and Deployment”. He added that solar power can help restore the natural balance that humanity disrupted during the industrial revolution.

Honorable Prime Minister also said ISRO will make a solar calculator application available to the rest of the globe, which will use satellite data to determine the solar power potential of any area. He stated that this calculator will aid in determining the best location for solar power plants.

He also raised the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) of achieving 450 gigawatts non-fossil energy capacity to 500 gigawatts. India will increase its non-fossil energy capacity to 500 gigawatts by 2030; India will fulfill 50 percent of its energy requirements from renewable energy sources by 2030. Between now and 2030, India will reduce its total projected carbon emissions by 1 billion tonnes and by 2030; India will reduce the carbon intensity of its economy by 45 percent and India will achieve the target of net zero by 2070. These five elixirs will be an unprecedented contribution by India towards climate action. He reminded the world that despite being 17 percent of the world’s population, India has been responsible for only 5 percent of its emissions because India has left no stone unturned in fulfilling its duty to save the planet from the scourge of climate change.

Setting the tone for the global focus on solar energy, PM Modi said, “Our lives were determined by the sunrise and dusk. Our earth was healthy as long as this natural connection existed. However, in the technological age, humanity’s quest to keep up with the sun disrupted nature’s balance and resulted in significant environmental damage.”

He continued, “Solar power is the only way to re-establish that balance. We must stroll with the sun once more… In one year, all of humanity consumes the same amount of energy as the sun provides to the Earth in one hour. This energy is both pure and long-lasting.”

He then went on to say, “The only drawback is that solar energy is only available during daylight hours and is also subject to weather conditions. The solution to this dilemma is one sun, one world, and one grid. A global solar power grid can provide clean energy anywhere, at any time.”

PM Modi also informed international leaders that promoting solar energy may minimize the demand for storage, improve the viability of solar power projects, and cut carbon emissions. He stated that the push for a solar alliance through the creation of an international solar power grid will open up new opportunities for international cooperation.

At Navitas Solar, as India’s leading provider of solar power solutions, we deeply believe in the views expressed by PM Modi. An endeavor like “One Sun, One Globe, One Grid” brings a new perspective to the worldwide quest for peace and progress. When we consider the ecology and development conditions in India, such a movement brings new hope for our nation. India’s energy demand is constantly increasing to satisfy the country’s present economic development goals. And we’re already facing a serious issue due to our over-reliance on coal-fired electricity.

Thankfully, due to the far-sighted approach of the government, India has developed a long-term energy supply strategy. Solar and other sources of renewable energy have been promoted to urge citizens to preserve energy. A quick and global shift to renewable energy technology, like solar power is required to ensure sustainable growth and avoid catastrophic climate change. Renewable energy sources are essential for long-term energy security and reduced emissions. Renewable energy technologies are well recognized for their ability to meet a significant amount of electricity demand while also lowering emissions.

Clean energy is both safer and less expensive in many circumstances. Going solar is unquestionably the way to go. With its highly reliable and quality solutions for a wide range of solar energy requirements, Navitas, a leading solar energy solutions provider, is devoted to helping India march towards clean energy. Contributing to the cause of making India a torch-bearer of Green Energy, the company had pledged to be Carbon Neutral by 2023, much earlier than the other corporates.
