Gujarat Leads In Clean Energy Revolution
According to the latest report from Times of India, Gujarat has emerged as the trailblazer in India’s momentous clean energy revolution. With an astounding installed capacity of 10.41 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy, spanning wind, solar, biopower, and small hydro power, Gujarat takes centre stage, commanding about 51.3% of the state’s total renewable energy capacity.
Gujarat boasts an additional 9.68 GW of Solar installations along with 0.11 GW of bio energy and 91.64 MW of small hydro power. In terms of Cumulative solar installations, Gujarat stands second after Rajasthan, however Gujarat was a pioneer in solar installations and the state shows no signs to slow down. Gujarat has an ambitious plan to add about 10 GW of installations of Renewable Energy in the FY 23-24 which will be helpful to maintain state’s position as a leading state in Renewable Energy. Already for 860 MWs, Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) are signed and other tenders are under process.
